They don't know your roles and skills. They can't keep up with you either.
A collective need to increase inclusivity
It's long been the tradition for employers to blame education for a lack of skilled candidates, while education blames employers for a lack of investment. Either way, it's not working. Employer branding and recruiting do not increase greater numbers of interested and skilled students. They do not create a larger, diverse talent pool to select from for hiring, thus increasing inclusion. Our methodology provides a sustainable way to increase inclusion, including increasing student interest in local employment, by guiding the skills and degrees employers hire locally. We provide students with early connections to employers, and vice versa, helping students that want support and potential employment, while supporting the communities in which we work.
Marin County Survey
A small survey of high school and college students in Marin County, a wealthy suburb north of San Francisco noted that 64% of the students have selected a career, however 82% stated they are not aware of employers' entry-level roles. You can't become what you cannot see. 100% of the students said they would use a product to learn local employer roles and skills sought.
Wouldn't it be awesome if every student that applied to an entry level role had the required skills and/or degree, was genuinely interested in the role and your company, and thought they'd fit right in your culture? Wouldn't it be even better if they were diverse and local? This is the impact and outcome we want... but we can't do this without employers.
Isn't it time we fix the skills gap and inclusion by working together to create local, interested and skilled entry-level talent?
It's time for a new, modern funnel!
The old hiring funnel (hasn't changed in 30+ years)
This funnel does not:
- Create greater inclusion
- Guide needed career interests
- Develop specific skills and degrees employers hire
- Deliver a student education $$$-ROI
- Portray the authentic employer role in a way students currently learn
- Give employers visibility into developing talent
- Support your community
- Create student to employer connections
The modern funnels guides the career and skills development of interested students for local employers' roles
Our work doesn't just impact employers and students. It engenders goodwill in your communities, gratitude from educators and career influencers, loyalty towards your employer brand, and makes your employees into heroes.
OK, we may be stretching the hero bit a little!
