Our Story
The specialization of roles over the last 30+ years, and the digital transformation at employers isn't only impacting business and the bottom line. Our students, their career influencers and our communities simply can't keep abreast of the changes within employers, and that impacts all of us - no matter where you live.
We're concerned technology, recruiting, human resources, diversity and inclusion experts. We're also concerned community members - grandparents, parents and recent grads. We know hiring is broken at the top of the funnel and we are leaving middle and lower class communities and diverse students - whether female, black, hispanic, LGBT or other - behind. We also know the student struggle to find employment impacts high school, college, adult learner and PhDs the same. It hasn't changed in 30 years.
Our country functions best when everyone has equal opportunity to obtain the work role they desire. To us, equal opportunity means equal knowledge of an opportunity and equal access to that opportunity. We believe this is inclusion. To achieve inclusion, students need the opportunity to explore, understand and view all sorts of roles, and learn what skills are required for the specific role(s) they are interested in.
Our work spans 7 years, 3 iterations, discussions with career counselors and educators from high school to college, hundreds of students from high school to adult learner to PhD, and a handful of employers. We thank all of them for sharing their stories with us. Their input truly has created a strategic way to impact student lives, community trajectories, and employers' future hires.
Why now? Despite the talent wars, and inclusion and diversity being top CEO issues, our students and their families are still struggling with education and its cost, skills development, finding employment, and employers are still struggling with finding qualified hires. Simply put, what we have been doing for years, no matter how good it has performed, isn't moving the needle enough. We need a better and more scalable way to give our next diverse, student generation the ability to be interested in, skilled for, and to want our employment.
After working with hiring managers and students directly, the CEO of Capstone, our investor, decided to fix this. We welcome strategic employers and their executives to view our solution and to join us to bridge the skills gap in entry hiring. We believe you'll find the impact on students will enhance your employer brand, community engagement, corporate development efforts, your Foundations, and aid society in creating a greater diverse, skilled talent pool to draw from for entry-level employment.
